Abstract

The new labour organizacion ways, based on the "Japonese model"of management, in Brazil, are characterized by the implementation of Total Quality Programs, which change the labour force qualification. The modernity pressure, which is represented by the quality demand, affects workers, resulting therefore in physical and mental problems. In this sense, the case study of a textile industry, in country of Nova Friburgo (Rio de Janeiro), had the purpose to understand how those programs are formulated in order to increase the product quality without modifying, though, the worker's life quality. It was detected the occurrence of precarious work condition situations, or of their process involving other sophisticated requirements - abstraction, control interiorization, generalization of the concept vendor/client, etc.- which are confronted with a low level scholarship labour force creating a tense atmosphere, where with a labour rhythm intensification, whithout producing actual gains for workers, though. The research reveled what other studies have been showing: those practices are incorporated by the Brazilian entrepreneurs, partially and selectively, with a particular difference between women and men. In relation to women it remains a labour process based on taylorism, and in relation to men it is clear a trend to flexibility.
