Abstract

The longest prestressed concrete bridge structure in Slovalda with 17 spans and total length of 1038 m was observed during the construction as well as long term during 15 years traffic by embedded acoustical vibro-wire gauges and geodetically. After each step of construction and prestressing the stress-strain behaviour was analysed, the influence of atmospheric changes, the creep and shrinkage of the concrete. The concrete quality was measured by ultrasound testers and sclerometric and the testing of various samples were applied for control of the volume changes in situ and in laboratory. The quality of grouting has been reviewed by endoscope diagnosis. The rehabilitation was made in two steps: after 5 years of traffic the water penetration was eliminated by replacement of the deck surfacing and waterproofing and at the same time in various cases the regrouting of the tendon ducts was carried out, after 10 years traffic the additional prestressing by unbonded tendons was used in order to restrict the increase of deflection at the hinges.
