Resumo

O texto, apresentado a seguir, trata da dimensão subjetiva da cidade, tendo como hipótese básica que, mais do que cenário e abrigo para as muitas atividades humanas, o ambiente construído é elemento constituinte do ser humano. A referência teórica que norteia o argumento que aqui se desenvolve vem da psicanálise e, nela, o conceito-chave é o de identificação. Como instrumento metodológico, utilizou-se a pesquisa qualitativa, realizada a partir da escuta do discurso livre de dois conjuntos distintos de pessoas, adultas, com idade, renda e profissão diferenciadas. É da análise dessas falas que se conclui: mais do que espaço do abrigo, a cidade é espaço privilegiado do afeto. Se assim é, e essa é a tese que o texto anuncia, conclui-se o trabalho afirmando que o urbanismo e sua prática têm como desafio desenvolver instrumentos metodológicos e projetuais que, por considerarem a dimensão subjetiva do ambiente construído, aumentem as chances de acerto na atividade de planejar e intervir no espaço que o ser humano edifica para nele habitar.

Abstract

The following text deals with the subjective dimension of the city, having as its basic hypothesis, that more than being the stage and shelter for all the various human activities, the built environment is a constituent element of the human being. The theoretical reference which directs the argument in this text is based on psychoanalysis, the key-concept being that of identification. The methodology used for the research was qualitative and was conducted from the free discourse of the different groups of adults, with different ages, incomes and professions. It is from the analysis of these talks, that we conclude that more than being a space of shelter, the city is a privileged space of affection. If this is the case, and this is the thesis offered in this text, the study and the practice of urbanism have the challenge of developing methodological and project instruments which, by considering the subjective dimension of the space, increase the chances of having success in the activities of planning and intervening in the space the human being builds to live in.
