Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the visual environment of two classrooms with different forms of apertures: side lighting and clerestory. The real classroom has a typical southeast window with plastics control devices. It belongs to the Instituto Labastida, Barcelona, designed by Josep Lluis Mateo and Eduardo Bru. The model studied has a lateral window with a clerestory and a lightshelf included. The methodology used is to compare the data to evaluate how they satisfy the specific and simultaneous visual tasks like reading and writing on different reflective materials such as paper and the blackboard.
