Abstract

This paper describes the recycling process of construction waste materials, introduced by a few public administrations in main cities of Brazil. Environmental problems due to non-recycling postures are presented, the different grinding processes and the machinery employed and, the physical-chemical properties of recycled aggregates. Likewise, a few partnership strategies are commented on, for the introduction of a municipal recycling program. The paper considers many publications and interviews with specialists and consultants of recycling waste materials. The information here presented, points out the recycling process as an excellent option to problems, such as: clandestine and derelict sites disposals and the production of high quality and low cost aggregates for use in prefabricated components to be employed in public construction works.
