Abstract

This paper presents part of a continuing research, which is aimed at exploring the relationship between the intensity of the received solar radiation on curved roofs and their geometrical configurations. It seeks better understanding of the solar performance of traditional roofing forms and facilitate their integration into buildings in developing countries. Throughout the research, a number of investigations has been carried out on curved roofs with varying curvatures (cross section ratios (CCSR)) at different principle and secondary orientations to study their solar radiation performance. This paper compares only the Hourly Total Clear Sky Irradiance Intensity I(HTCS) W/m 2 on flat and semicircular dome. The geographical latitude of Aswan (23.58 o N) has been chosen to represent the hot dry climatic conditions of southern Egypt.
