Resumo

Computer technology and automation advancements have created numerous new computing tools for cement users. This general overview describes several applications and recommends some of which have proven successful in the cement industry. MIS (Management Information Systems) are system modules which enable plant management teams to consolidate data from different plant areas. Reports on production data, laboratory analysis, energy consumption, quality control, etc. can be combined and tailored to specific needs of each MIS user. Practical benefits of such systems are numerous; plant management teams can look at the consolidated data from different areas and easily formulate specific and customized reports. Statistical Process Control tools can be applied to each area as well as to the global database. Client-server technology makes this integration of different cement plant areas easy, even when integrating data from different control system platforms. Lately, the availability of the Internet technology introduces new cost effective solutions for global cement companies.
