Abstract

This research, through the study of a case, describes how a company of the civil architecture industry - edification sector, located in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, has adapted strategically in the perception of its dominant coalition. The study was developed through a qualificative research, using the Pettigrew's methodology (1987) and its three strategic dimensions: context, content and process. Besides the qualificative character (Lüdke and André, 1986; Trivinõs, 1992) and contextual (Pettigrew, 1987), it was also used the longitudinal and historical view (Kimberly, 1976; Salama, 1992). Due the adopted methodology, there was no preoccupation in generalizing the results found here; it was aimed to show elements that help in the explanation of the process of strategic adaptation of the organization.
