Abstract

The development history of three theories on predictive calculation, system identification and optimum control methods using a thermal network model by the first author are described. It is important to note that a state-space approach based on system theory underlies these three theories. Special focus is placed on a history of the predictive computation program NETS development, and a number of significant features are described. Further, this paper provides results of a cooperative case study as computed by NETS on a multifunctional ventilation system that takes advantage of stack effects particular to a multi-layer building.
