Abstract

This work introduces the PFS/MFG methodology for design of integrated systems in intelligent buildings, based on the property of they sub-systems possess in a dynamic behaviour defined through the occurrence of discrete events. In this context, the intelligent buildings can be considered as Discrete Event Dynamic Systems (DEDS) and then, techniques based on Petri Nets such as the PFS/MFG methodology have been comproved be effective for the modeling, analysis and control of the system. The work also presents a example where functions and they relationship in intelligent buildings environment are modeled through the PFS/MFG graphs. This example show the procedure for modeling one type of access control system and for temperature control (environmental comfort) system of a building
